Encourages processors to stop by the booth and view a demonstration

Houston Businee Journal HOUSTON, Texas - November 9, 2010 - Headworks BioTM Inc., a leading supplier of wastewater screening and biological treatment solutions, will be exhibiting at the International Poultry Expo in Atlanta, Georgia in January at booth #6269 (Hall B). Headworks Bio has successfully delivered wastewater treatment solutions to industrial facilities around the world, including food and beverage processing facilities.

At the core of Headworks Bio’s treatment process, is a Moving-Bed Biofilm Reactor (“MBBR”). This technology employs virgin polyethylene biofilm carriers operating in mixed motion within an aerated treatment reactor. Every biofilm carrier dramatically increases productivity by expanding the surface area needed to sustain heterotrophic and autotrophic bacteria. It is this high-density population of bacteria that achieves high-rate biodegradation within the system, allowing the effluent stream to meet local discharge requirements. The system is self-maintaining, so it requires minimal maintenance and is simple to operate.

“Wastewater from poultry processing is high-strength but extremely biodegradable and typically non-toxic, making it the ideal feed water for Headworks Bio MBBR treatment systems”, explained Jack Gardiner, Senior Vice President of Headworks Bio. “Resilient to process fluctuations and designed for automated operation, MBBR technology delivers highly efficient water process capabilities optimized for the unique needs of poultry producers.”

The Company also offers a variety of dewatering, conveying and compacting devices for the poultry industry. Fine screens for primary and secondary processing are available, as well as screening devices for the separation of feathers and offal. Headworks Bio’s screens can be successfully used in both pump and flume delivery systems. Screening units are completely enclosed making them ideal for the recovery of solids in rendering applications.

The Company will have a demonstration of an MBBR reactor at the show and encourages any processor that is looking to install or upgrade their wastewater treatment facility to stop by booth #6269 (Hall B).
